pepper the salad

September 21, 2010

I have recently been making some salads for myself at home.  This is pretty cheap and delicious at the same time, so I like it.  I need cheap right now…  I like to put lots of different things on my salads.  The best topping, that has become my go to, is peppers.  Bell Pepper (red, green, and yellow), Banana Pepper, and Jalapeno (all fresh).  This is the way to go!  Bell Peppers are also loaded up with Vitamin C, so I know I am getting my share of that.  It also makes the salad a little bit spicy and who doesn’t love spicy foods.  Check out my picture below to see what I am talking about (I was excited about what I was about to eat, so I snapped a picture to share with you).  Glen Lake Camp got me hooked on the pepper salad.  Every summer when I am out at the camp I get a fully loaded salad bar everyday that I can load up with the peppers.  Then yesterday I made this salad and then topped it with my salsa from the pervious post too.  Even better.
What is your favorite things to put your salad?

(yes that is a Diet Snapple Diet Peach Green Tea – also awesome)

I love salsa

September 19, 2010

I made salsa the other day.  It was pretty delicious.  Thanks to David Riddile and his blog The Spice Search for the recipe.  The green one is a roasted tomatillo salsa.  Oven roasted the ingredients and then mixed it up – Awesome on fajitas.  Then the red salsa is called Enfuego Red Salsa.  It was pretty decent.  This one was pretty spicy compared to the other one, but it also had more jalapeno and a Habanero thrown in there to kick it up a notch!

Smokey’s is so good.  If you have not been lately you need to go back and check it out.  They rereopened… and now it is delicious.  Kyland introduced me to the new Smokey’s BBQ a couple of weeks ago and I can’t stop going– it is a winner!
Smokey’s is on E. Lancaster — 5300 E Lancaster Ave  Fort Worth, TX 76112.
I love the Chopped Beef Sandwich (pictured below).
